Background
Kalmar has been a pioneer in cybersecurity within the ports and terminals industry. In 2023, the company became the first solution provider in its sector to achieve IEC 62443-4-1 certification for the software development of its Kalmar One automation system. Building on this achievement, Kalmar set out to extend the certification scope to cover its Connected Solutions Secure Development Lifecycle Process, which includes MyKalmar INSIGHT, a performance management tool for material handling operations, which includes a cloud application and a related gateway.
IEC 62443-4-1 specifies the process requirements for the secure development of products used in industrial automation and control systems. Achieving certification demonstrates that an organisation has implemented a structured, evidence-based approach to cybersecurity across the entire product development lifecycle.
How Cyberismo helped

In February 2026, Kalmar was awarded the IEC 62443-4-1 cybersecurity certification for its Connected Solutions Secure Development Lifecycle Process, reinforcing its position as an industry leader in cybersecurity for the ports and terminals sector.
